José María Bové interviewed on Radio Interconomía

On 25 April, José María Bové, the Honorary Consul of Austria in Barcelona, was a featured guest on the program “Con I de Inmobiliario” on Radio Interconomía. This program is a valuable source for professionals, investors, and listeners interested in the real estate market. Directed by journalist Elena Fraile, the program aims to provide listeners with a better understanding of the constantly evolving sector.

Bové’s appearance occurred during the Rebuild 2025 event, which took place in Madrid in April of this year. This forum is a benchmark for the transformation of Spain’s building sector and brought together institutional leaders, like the President of the Government Pedro Sánchez, who expressed a firm commitment to innovating, improving sustainability, and industrializing the built environment.

In his speech, José María highlighted the Austrian housing model, which is based on public housing, transparency, and public-private collaboration. He pointed out that one out of every four housing units in Austria is public and that over 50% of the population in Vienna resides in social housing.

He emphasised the transparent management of public housing, permanent contracts, the reinvestment of rental income, and the key role of cooperatives. Furthermore, he also assessed how this model has addressed the housing problem in a structural way and with social support.

Finally, he concluded his speech by offering an inspiring international perspective on the current challenges facing the sector: industrialisation, digitalisation and decarbonisation.
