José María Bové, new member of the Diplomacy Academy
The prestigious admission ceremony of the Academy of Diplomacy of the Kingdom of Spain, one of the most distinguished academies in our country, founded in 1942, recently took place in Barcelona.
José María Bové, president and founder of Bové Montero, was appointed as a new member of the Academy at a ceremony held at the Circulo Ecuestre in Barcelona. The Academy comprises Spanish and foreign diplomats, as well as prominent figures from the Spanish military, cultural, journalistic and business sectors. Mr Bové has been the Honorary Consul General of Austria for Catalonia and Aragon since 2006. Furthermore, he was presented with the Grand Badge of Honour for Merit from the Republic of Austria by the Austrian Ambassador to Spain, Mr Enno Drofenik. This is one of the highest distinctions awarded by the Central European country.
The Academy presented Mr Bové with its medal, which is based on the coat of arms of King Felipe II of Spain. Becoming a member of the Academy shows a commitment to the values that Spain has promoted throughout the centuries on all continents through its diplomatic corps: “the independence of the Crown, its political neutrality, the inclination to integrate different ideological perspectives, contributing to the stability of our political system, maintaining balance with the other constitutional bodies, and fostering unity among Spaniards”.
