Celebration of the Austrian National Day

On 31 October, more than a hundred representatives from the political, consular, business, cultural, social, and academic spheres gathered at the Circulo Ecuestre de Barcelona for an official reception celebrating Austria’s National Day (Österreichischer Nationalfeiertag). This annual celebration provides an opportunity for the Austrian community in Spain and friends of Austria to come together and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite the two countries.

The celebration in Barcelona was hosted by the Austrian Ambassador, Enno Drofenik, and the Honorary Consul General of Austria in Barcelona, José María Bové. Among those in attendance was Jaume Duch Guillot, the Minister for European Union and Foreign Action of the Government of Catalonia, who was the guest of honour.

Year after year, this event reaffirms the close friendship between Austria and all regions of Spain, which is founded on mutual respect, collaboration, and shared values. The National Day provides an excellent opportunity to highlight the strong historical, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Ultimately, emphasis was placed on the pivotal role of dialogue and cooperation between countries as tools in building solid bridges between nations.
