The 26th National Auditing Congress was held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from 20 to 22 November, an event organised by the Spanish Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICJCE), which represents the country’s audit profession. Its mission is to promote the quality of auditing, encourage professional ethics and adapt the sector to the needs of the market.

Bové Montero, as a collaborating firm of the event, had a notable participation in the congress, strengthening its commitment to the key issues of the sector. María Luisa Ramírez, Partner and member of the ICJCE’s Sustainability Committee, played a significant role in the event as moderator of the session “Sustainability in the audit of annual accounts”.

During her intervention, she highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability criteria into financial reporting as a key tool for ensuring transparency and trust in an increasingly demanding business environment. María Luisa explained how auditing can play a fundamental role in the transition to a more sustainable future, encouraging practices that not only comply with current regulations, but also encourage the responsible and sustainable development of companies. She was joined on stage by Rodrigo Gómez and Ana Sánchez, also members of the Sustainability Committee, who contributed to the debate with different perspectives on the relationship between sustainability and auditing.

José María Bové (President), Secundino Urcera (Partner) and Jorge Antonio Millán (Partner) also attended the congress on behalf of Bové Montero, further reaffirming the firm’s commitment to the key issues discussed.

The congress focused on two current issues: sustainability and artificial intelligence. During the sessions, the integration of sustainability criteria in financial reporting was explored. Speakers emphasised that this approach is essential for ensuring transparency and trust in the current business context, shaped by increasing demands for social responsibility.
