
More than 100 Catalan, Spanish, and international representatives from the political, consular, business, social and academic fields have gathered on 27th October at the Equestrian Circle of Barcelona in an official reception on the occasion of celebrating the Austrian National Day (or Österreichischer Nationalfeiertag).
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Austria, Enno Drofenik, the Honorary Consul General of Austria for Catalonia and Aragon, Jose Maria Bové, the Commercial Councellor of Austria, Richard Bandera, the Deputy Delegate of the Spanish Government, Josefa Beltran, and the Deputy Mayor of the City of Barcelona, Mª Eugènia Gay.
José Maria Bové said in his speech that “half of the Austrian companies with a direct presence in Spain, about 100, have chosen Catalonia to develop their business projects”. At the same time, he pointed out that the investments of the multinational Kronospan in Tortosa (Tarragona) are “a paradigmatic example of the contribution made by Austrian companies to the creation of jobs”.
The reception was attended by representatives of the Catalan Government, Foment del Treball, Cercle d’Economia, several Catalan chambers of commerce, a dozen consuls, as well as Austrian businesspeople with interests in Catalonia and Spain and prominent members of the local business community.
The evening was accompanied by Austria´s rich musical heritage of chamber and classical music and ended with refreshments for the guests.
The celebration of the Republic of Austria´s National Day was sponsored by Austrian Tourism, Gebro Pharma, Marimón Abogados and Freixenet, who treated all the guests to a toast with their cava.
